Compatriots,
Those of you who were able to go to Augusta missed a great time. June 9-11 was the 103rd Annual reunion of the Georgia Division of the SCV/MOSB held at the River Front Radisson Hotel. My self and Adjutant Mike Freeman were there as delegates for the camp along with Compatriot Dan McCaleb. We got there late Friday afternoon and proceeded to meet and greet Compatriots from other camps. We went to the evening dinner and were treated to the MOSB oratory contest where several fine speakers gave us an example of fine speech making.Later in the evening we were down on the banks of the Savannah River while an Artillery group gave everyone a thrill by putting on a night firing exhibition. The report of three cannon and the resulting echo were incredible. The next morning we went to the prayer breakfast and had the visiting camps Chaplain encouarge all of us in our fight for our heritage while delivering a great message. The business meetings followed and after making the announcement for candidates to run for division level offices Mike places his name in the pot for N.E. Ga. Brigade Commander to run against incumbent David Dennard. Sadly Mike did not win but the results were very close. Division Commander Allan Trapp won the election defeating Bill Latham for a second term. All other offices were uncontested. All in all the reunion was a success for our camp as we were both seen and heard. We saw and learned from the experience and have come up with several ideas for our camp. As a final note on the reunion Compatriot Dan McCaleb sold $100.00 worth of raffle tickets to those there. Good job, Dan!
On the raffle ticket sales. The gun is paid for and everything is pure profit for the camp from here on out. Tickets for the Harvest Ball will be ready soon and I have flyers in the shop along with a petition to keep the Georgia flag as is and brochures on the flag I'll pass out at the meeting. On that note I'll save the rest for the meeting. Until then,

Deo Vindice
Timothy P. Ragland, Commander
